I am just a bit bothered so just bear with me on this post and please excuse the bad spelling it always happens when my mind is running at 100rpms and the poor fingers cannot keep up.
I just want to get this straight I HAVE 3CHILDREN not 2 kids and another one.
I hate when Finnian gets looked over and not included in everything that we do. I know we sometimes don't do things becasue of Finnian but htats because we are a family and everyone needs to be included.
Just because he is 4 years old and cannot do normal 4 year old things like walk, talk, run, jump, sing get in to trouble it doesn't give anyone the right to bypass him ans forget about him. He loves when people talk to him alright he cannot answer but just to see hte look on his face and how he lights up is truly amazing to me.
I know I cannot make people accepct him love him or like him the way I do but for f... sake at least acknowledge him. He didn't ask to be the way he is I keep going over in my mind was it something I did that caused his problems but I keep getting told its not my fault that he is different. Its wasn't my choice that he is now 4 years old with a mind of an 8 mths old. Do you think that I would wish it on anyone fu... no, no mother, father ,brother ,sister should have to go through what we do. Well no child should have to go through what he goes through is not fair he gets judged on his apperance because he is different.
So people get it straight I HAVE 3 CHILDREN

Congrats to Kevin and Helen

Well there is more congratulations in order
Kevin and Helen got engaged so

Congrats to Kevin and Helen on their engagment

Still waiting for a picture

We will more than likley be going to the doctors tomorrow

Its seem to be a never ending story that we are always running to the doctors for something or another. Finnian did have fun on vacation but yes we did have seizures but now he still has a cough and is throwing up again. Is the cough due to aspiration of his puking or is it a real cough or is a combination of both who knows but it is something that need to be looked into.
Weather was noce on vacation but for Finnian it was a little hot as he seems to over heat very easily the connection in his brain to trigger " hey its hot you have to sweat" doesn't work very good so he was kept inside during the day. He did get to go to the beach but it was usually after 5 pm but still nice enough for him to enjoy it. We did go to the Aquarium it was hot taht day but because we were going in and out of AC he did fine. The trip was so much fun and would do it again in a heart beat may be next year. THe Tahiti rocks felt just like at home

Some pics from our vacation

We are back

We were all MIA for a week. We went on our holidays. We drove to Myrtle Beach in SC. It was a family vacation. Nanny and Grandad, Mike , Siobhan, Becka, Aidan, Dee, Rick and Joe's parents.Weather was great and we were staying in a house right accross form the beach.
Now Finnian on the other hand had seizures on the way down and I gave him some Klonopin which worked wonders. THe seizues were brought on by the unbeliveabls thunders storms we drove theough. Unreal the rain as I always say " Its raining like a cow pissing on a flat rock but man there must have been 50 million cows pissing at the same time with all the rain it made.
Sunday we got setteled and of course our Finnian had to throw a spanner in the works and he had one of his bloody awful seizures. Everyone cleared the deck while Mammy stepped into stop seizure mode. Thank God I had brought everything but the kitchen sink with me. He got diastat, O2, breathing treatments, attached on to his pulse ox. We were not supposed to have one of thoes for about 2 weeks.
I am tired and will up date more and post some pics maybe tomorrow

The saga continues

Well after the way he was yesterday afternoon I thought we were on the road to recovery but of course our lad has other ideas. Last night he was whining and crying in the wee hours of the morning. But then this morning he was fine but he started to change again and his temp went back up. So again he got his panadol the full dose 10 mls and he started pulling on his hair behind his right ear. He is still whining and crying and the only way to have his quite is pushing him back and forth in the stroller. So guess what I will probably doing all night? If he is still like this tomorrow its back to the peds anad they will do a tympaneny test on his ears to see if he has fluid. I am so sick of this its not fair to Finnian this has been going on since the end of May. The vomiting, the ears and the tempatures. I don't know I guess I will just have to go back to the ENT and see about getting the tubes put in. The whole thing is I dont want him to lose his hearing.

We are going away for a few days the whole family. THe Mammy and the Daddy, my brother, his wife and 2 kids, my sister and her other half and the 5 of us. THe last thing I want is for our Finnian to be miserable. So right now we are going to the peds office in the morning and getting his bloody ear checked out again.

Well wouldn't you know?

Finnian had a temp again this morning and I gave him more Panadol then his nurse and she took all of his vitals his blood pressure was a little low but not so low that we should worry about it. so the only thing she could find wrong with him was the temperature. She got all of his meds ready and gave them to him not 15 minutes later he is telling us via sign language that he is hungry. So we watered down his formula and gave it to him only about half of what he would normally get. His temp was still over 100 so we got him ready and took him to the peds office. Everything was clear his lungs, his ears nothing. He didn't even have a temp when it was taken by the nurse. All the doctor was worried about was that he was hydrated he had spit in his mouth his turger was good so all we were told was to either water down his formula or give him what ever he can have. Normally you give kids pedalite or Gatorade but because Finnian is on the Keto diet he cannot have sugars so we usually give him diet ginger ale. The only thing he could find was he was a bit stuffy in his nose so we have to put him back on his Singulair. Other wise he got a clean bill of health. He told us that there have been alot of kid in with a virus so thats is probably what our lad had. He was surprised that we take him out in the heat but he has his little battery fan that has foam blades, his sprtizer bottle of water which he loves to get sprayed with and his umbrella and his shades oh yes he also has sunscreen on.So our lad is well taken care of when he is out no worries about that.
Of couse he was back to himself again by 2 pm like as if he was never sick.

Sleepless night

Well its now 5:26 am on Wednesday morning I have been up all night with our boy. He is running a low grade temp which is normal when he is not well. I gave him some paracetamol to take down his temp but four hours later it is now reading 100.2 wow before the paracetamol it was 100.5 so no big change so in another hour I can give him another dose but this time I will give him 10mls. Its funny but the Panadol usually works so when his temp is not budging it means something is really cooking in his system. So its off to the peds we will be going in about 4 hours. The poor bugger has even been throwing up water and now is grabbing on his hair behind his right ear. I love his g-tube its easy to get liquids in to him but they don't stay down for long he is also getting up alot of mucus so it could mean that he has a sinus thing going on. I think we will have to talk to the GI about doing the nissen on his tummy. When he had his g-tube put in the just tightened up the part of the esophagus at the stomach because his tummy was very small and they didn't want him to have a tummy the size of a dime. I have had to suction him after every puking session and that has not been nice. I even put him on the nebulizer to open up his airways and hopefully he has not aspirated. I can hear a little rattle on the right side but since the neb treatment it is much better. I have also see a few startles which is not uncommon when he is under the weather. As long as the don't go into full blown seizures we will be alright. Never fails we are going away for a few days and he gets sick well better now than to be on vacation and have to bring him to the ER. Wow I would have some explaining on his condition thats why I always bring his folder with me, Well I will update later and let you know whats going on with our Finnian.

Well our lad Finnian is up to his old tricks again. Yup you guesed it vomiting. It has to be something with the heat because what comes out of him is pure sour. He was getting alot of other junk out too. But as soon as he gets it out the is back to the usual Finny. We just have to watch him for aspiration we don't need for any of that crap going in to his lungs.
I went back for my follow up at the docs I came back with 2 new scripts. All my blood work was good and as usual my red blood cell were high. So I asked if I should go back to the blood doc again he said it was really up to me. They have checked me out for so many things but cannot find out why I get a high red blood count but Finnian also has a normal high red blood count we are the only ones with his.

Happy Birthday.

Happy birthday to my big brother Michael. He is now 40 years young.

Connor's Song

Connor is one of Finnian's Friends. You can find the link to "Connor's Song" on the right.

Connor's Mammy got a phone call telling her that her husband had been injured in and IED attack in Afghanistan. She has spoken to her hubby briefly but still hasn't found out his exact injuries. He has had surgery.
So if you could all keep Connor, his Mammy and especially his Daddy in your thoughts and prayers it would be great. Hopefully he will be home soon.

Finnian

Well our Finnian has been projectile vomiting off and on since the end of May. We have always been able to justify as to why its been happening. Fluid in ears in people who are mobile they can walk like if they are drunk but in a child like Finny who is non ambulatory it can in a sense make them feel like they are sea sick and it can cause them to hurl. Then add antibotics on to a queasy tummy and they can hurl. They we would have a few days when he was better no hurling but then add Banzel on to his meds on top of ear infections and antibotics and of course he would hurl. But then when better again no ear infections why is he still hurling? Figured his tummy must be still upset so increased the Prevacid reduced the flow rate on feding pump some improvment but still could hurl. Alittle afraid as he did it a few times in his sleep so worried about aspiration. Everytime contents was sour so figured it was that I was heating his formula up a little too much for this hot weather so we started to give it to him heated at a lower tempature. Some improvment but could still hurl. Finally figured out may be its from the Banzel so called the neuro's office and told them. Of course I got yelled at for not letting them know sooner but hey I could justify as to why he was hurling ears, antibotics and formula going sour so why would I think other wise it always happens. So we are reducing the Banzel down and tonight was the first lower dose. But guess what? Yup he had a bad seizure three shouts, went white and all stiff. Oh I was mad and scared ran and got his diastat, pulse ox and hooked him up and gave him the diastat all at the same time. Well his O2 was only 74 and his heart rate was 187 so out comes the oxygen it took an hour before his O2 was staying above 90% and that was giving him 2 liters of O2. He is now stable and off the O2.
I don't know he is totally dependant on his meds but yet he is still having these bad seizures. The whole idea of putting him on Banzel was in hopes of getting him off one of his other meds and hopefully decreasing another, But it doesn't look like that is it the Banzel that is making him hurl or is it seizures form being on so much crap. Oh I don't know but I do know SEIZURES SUCK.

Its great Mammy has no voice.

Well its been awhile since I have lost my voice for this long and my poor voice box was really starting to suffer so off to the doctors office I went today. Diagnoses allergies so home I came armed with 4 scripts for meds a new inhaler, nasal spray, allergy pills and my best friend my nexium for my tummy. My new inhaler worked fantastic I just took one puff and my voice came back. Yes I did take the rest of my meds. I do not want a repeat of what happend last year. Yup I didn't take my meds the way I sould have and ended up on 2 rounds of antibotics and a round of steroids before my poor voice came back. The doctor told me htat if my voice didn't come back after the steroids that I would have to go and see an ENT to see if I had really damaged my vocal chords.
So Mammy got her meds and I am taking them so hopefully my voice will be back to normal by the weekend.

Got change?

Well the quater that was swallowed by my 9 year old has surfaced. Well I should say landed safely in the bottom of the toilet. Yes I did fish it out and cleaned all the poop off of it. I was wearing gloves and Maura told me " Mammy that's just awful you are playing with poo" "Well my dear its not something I like doing" I answered back. Now its in a plastic baggie and you should see the colour it is. must take pictures and you can all see for yourselves.
Eoghan was very proud of himself for being able to swallow the quater and he got to go and get x-rays taken and he could see the money in his tummy but when it saw it after it passed through his system he changed his mind. Also his allergies are really bad again so we just told him its because he swallowed the quater. Had him at the peds today becasue of his cough but they say its just allergies and gave him meds.
